Mark and Debbie

Love brought us together and love is the reason why we want to adopt again. We know that love is also the reason you are considering adoption for your child. We want to thank you for taking time to read our family profile. Life is a precious gift and we honor you for choosing it. It takes courage and love to make an adoption plan. Adoption is very familiar to us and we would like to add to our family that way again. We cannot even begin to describe our life in this letter, but we hope it will give you a glimpse of what we are like. Like all families we have our share of joys and trials, but each one brings us closer together. God is at the center of our lives and we know he has a special plan for us all.

We are Debbie and Mark and live in rural western New York. We were married on July 15, 1995. Our whole lives revolve around children and family activities. We are a large, fun, loving family with lots of different personalities. Each one adds a special touch to our home. Currently in our home is our daughter, Elizabeth who is 13; also our son, Elijah who is 10. Our family has been blessed by the adoption of our daughter, Janae, born Dec. 8, 2008. Our new son Jamin, born September 2, 2010 also joined our family by adoption.

Both have Down syndrome so we are actively involved with Early Intervention. We also have older children that we adopted from foster care that now live on their own.

I am Debbie and was raised by very loving, Christian parents. I have an older brother and a younger sister. I own a ceramic shop on our property where I enjoy teaching people with special needs. In our home I have small daycare so there are always plenty of children to play with. I like to play games, read books, cook, do crafts, sew and teach our children many things. What I enjoy most is being blessed to be a stay at home mother!

I am Mark and was raised not far from where we live now. I have 3 older brothers and 2 older sisters. They all live in our area. My mother lives only a few miles away. She spends a lot of time with us and eagerly baby sits when we go on a date! I have worked at a large dairy farm for the past 19 years as an assistant herdsman. My work hours are from 3:00-11:00 am. This allows me lots of time to spend at home with my family. I enjoy teaching them how to build things. Since I enjoy sports we spend a lot of time outdoors playing and going fishing. We also have a large vegetable garden and several flower beds.

We own a 6 bedroom home on 5 acres of land near a beautiful state park. It has 2 full bath rooms, a living room, a kitchen, a laundry/computer room and a play room. Our fenced-in play yard has a large sandbox, swing sets, a trampoline, and a play house that Mark built. We also have a swimming pool with a special gated area for small children. It provides lots of fun for our families and friends. Everyone in our house enjoys pets so we have a large variety of both indoor and outdoor animals. Our pond is used for fishing and paddle boating.

Holidays are special for us. We spend time with both our families. Christmas is our favorite time of the year. Christmas morning we spend at home and then go to Debbie’s brother’s house for a huge meal. That evening we go to Mark’s mother’s house to spend time with his family. We always enjoy special services at church and a Christmas play. Other holidays are spent in a similar way. At everyone’s birthday we celebrate with their favorite meal and cake. At Halloween we carve pumpkins from our garden and have a Harvest party. At Easter we color eggs, hide baskets, and attend church.

Our family enjoys going on vacations, playing outside, swimming, bowling, skating, and many other activities. We try to spend time doing things that are special for each family member. We like to have friends over for cookouts and to play games. Debbie is a leader of a girl’s group at our church and Mark is a leader of a boy’s group. Our family attends church regularly and is active in the community. It is our desire to install good values and morals in our children while allowing them to be individuals. We teach them to always do their best with whatever abilities that they have. God made each person special and unique. Thank you again for looking at our profile.

We pray that God will give you comfort as you plan for your child's future. You can rest assured that if you choose us, your child will be surrounded by lots of love and family. Your child will always know how very special you are! We look forward to the possibility of meeting you if you desire. Everyone is anxious for us to welcome a new family member.

                     Sincerely,
                                Mark and Debbie and family
