Our
Family…
I am a single mom, through adoption, to a 10 year old little girl who has Down
syndrome.
I am a follower of Christ. I strive to seek His will in everything I do. I live
my life and am raising my daughter in the knowledge that we can do nothing apart
from Christ. He is our life, love and salvation.
My Desire to Adopt…
I have always been drawn to children with special needs. I started volunteering
with the special education department when I was in elementary school. I chose
my occupation (Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist) based on the ability to
work with children who had challenges. I love to see them blossom and try to
reach their potential.
Dear Birthmom,
First of all, I would like to say thank you for even considering me for your
child's adoption. I would think that this is one of the hardest decisions that
you have ever had to make. I applaud you for doing everything in your power to
give your child an amazing life.
My name is Jennifer, I'm single and a mom, through adoption, to a little girl
named Yan. I have never been married, but am very happy with my life. My
daughter is "Chromosomally Enhanced" (has Down syndrome) and is an amazing
little girl. I adopted her from Hong Kong and she is the light of my life. She
constantly amazes me by her perseverance and joy.
By trade, I am a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist. I currently see private
clients on my own flexible schedule. I also sell toys, books, and some specialty
learning products online. I have tailored my work so that I can be home for the
majority of my time to home school my daughter. I really feel like she needs one
on one attention. However, she stays very active socially. We visit regularly
with friends through local adoption groups and play dates. Yan also takes
gymnastics, cello, and horse-back riding lessons. These are all things she
enjoys and they help her in her development.
I am a Christian and strive to honor Christ in our home and all we do. We do a
lot with a local church that has an amazing program for children with special
needs. They have embraced my daughter and me.
My daughter and I feel very blessed, but are longing to share our family with
more children. She asks me for sisters or brothers. We would welcome your child
with open arms and commit ourselves to loving them unconditionally.
I would also welcome an open adoption, if you would like it. I want you to know
that your child is loved, healthy and happy! I cannot wait to begin this journey
with you.
Thank you for your consideration!
