James and Angela Wehunt
We are a happily married couple of 21 years. We have three great daughters, Brandi, (24), Tori (19) and Jami (18). Our oldest has given us four grandchildren and there is simply not enough room on here to tell you how great they are!!!! We are very close to them and they are our world. Tori is a sophomore at Arkansas Tech majoring in Special Education. Jami is a senior at Alma High School, full of life and a delight to be around. My husband is a pastor (Missionary Baptist) but is currently without a church. God will lead us to one in his time. I am a special education teacher and love it!! We are looking to add one more special one to our family! James and I both grew up in Christian homes. He came to faith in Christ at 8 years of age during a night service at the church his father pastored. I met Christ when I was 7 years old in a revival meeting. We haven't always lived perfect lives but we try to become more like Jesus everyday. However, we did not plan to be in full-time ministry. God had different plans and called James to youth and music work soon after we were married. Today, we wouldn't want to do anything else. We are so blessed by the people we lead and serve and their love for Christ and others. Our Desire to Adopt… My heart has been burdened for at least 12 years to adopt a baby with Down syndrome. As our family has grown and our girls grew up, it just never seemed like it was time to actively pursue the adoption. I would try to forget about it but God never let the desire and passion for a 'special' child leave my heart. Finally, we are at a stage in our lives that my husband is ready and so are the girls. God has worked overtime the past two months to show us the path to take in pursuing adoption. Dear Birthmom, I know you must be in
such terrible pain right now. Please know that we are already praying for you
and for God to give you the grace you need to make it through this difficult
time in your life. We have never lost a child, had a negative diagnosis, or
given one up for adoption. However, we have been given a passion to adopt, love
and nurture a baby with Down syndrome. We are not sure why God has chosen us or
even why he wants us to do this. We know that it will not be easy and not
everyone feels they can raise a child with special needs. That is the reason God
gives some one gift and some another. We are looking forward to this blessing
and want to raise your baby to love God and others. Our huge family will embrace
this baby and help us to provide for it a wonderful life. If you decide we could
possibly be the parents you want for your baby, I would love to talk with you
and answer any questions. The Wehunts |
