Current Needs

Kelly and Teresa Rauscher

We are Kelly, myself mom Terrie, and our sons Dale age 17, and Chris age 12. Both of our sons are adopted, Dale at age 5. He was formerly our foster child. He has special needs and his birth mom is mentally ill. He is also learning disabled. When little he was speech delayed. Our youngest son is Chris. We have an open adoption done privately in our state of Nebraska. He had some speech and language problems when younger and some mild learning problems as a 7th grader. Both of our son's are wonderful young men whom we are proud to be the parents of.

We are a Caucasian family very open to a child of another race and or culture. Our children have friends of all races and we live in a wonderful mixed racial and cultural neighborhood. We are a family built by love and commitment as our daughter and older son have had some very challenging needs over the years. We also were foster parents for a number of years so we have a lot of experience with children. We are both college graduates. Myself, Terrie, in early childhood education. I used to teach day care and preschool. Kelly works in structural steel as a draft man. We were married on October 10, 1981 We are happily married and have always wished for one maybe two more children to complete our family.

We are both believers in God as our Heavenly Father as well as Christ as our Savior. We feel that our faith has helped us in difficult times such as when Kelly's parents were tragically both killed in a car accident in 1988. Faith is what helped us see that even though we missed them they were with our Lord and that is what helped in sad times. We are both of the Lutheran faith

Letter To Birth Mother:

We understand what a difficult time this must be for you. We know you want what is best for your child.
We have always wished for one or maybe 2 more children, as in twins, for a very long time, that wish has not come true as of yet, Maybe there is a reason for that. Maybe your baby is in need of a home like ours and you may be comfortable with us as your child's new parents.
We are very comfortable caring for babies and small children. As foster parents to several young infants, some with special needs, we are very comfortable with disability.  Terrie used to teach preschool and was also a day care teacher with a wide range of children some of which had some form of special needs. We are comfortable with caring for and especially loving a special child as well as loving you for giving this very special little one life and a home to raise him or her. We both strongly feel that all children are truly a gift from God. We know in our hearts that when that child needs us, God will help us find each other.
We would be happy to speak with you by email or over the phone. And most importantly we want you to feel completely comfortable in your choice of a home for your baby.
We are wanting to do a LEGAL Guardianship. This will enable us to take care of a new child or children as well as our 2 sons at home they are ages 17 and 12.  We have adopted them as well as their older sister whom is now 22. She was adopted at age 9.
We have 2 wonderful little grand daughters from our adopted daughter. We adore them. They come over often and they would love a new aunt or uncle to play with!  We know that God will help you find in your heart the right answer for you and your baby if that is for you to parent this child, that is wonderful.
However if you do not feel that is possible for whatever reason we are not here to judge you.  What we offer you is our friendship and our love. If your child needs a loving, warm, committed family and home, we would be thrilled to welcome your baby into it. We would also be most comfortable with whatever form of contact you would wish for... ongoing contact from a lot to very little or none. That is up to you.
We do have a very open adoption with our 12 year old son's birth mom and she is available for anyone to contact should they consider us for their child's new family. We wish you and this special baby the very best. We would love to hear from you if that would be your wish as well.
With warm wishes for you and your child.
Sincerely,
Terrie and Kelly and Family
