We are Miguel and Michelle, with our son Ty, who is 11. We have been married just over 2.5 years and have a one story ranch-style home on a 1/2 acre in a small neighborhood surrounded my strawberry fields. Miguel is a facilities supervisor and Michelle is a claims adjuster. We all love spending time cooking, playing board games, watching movies, taking visits to Disney, and to see our family.
Our Desire to Adopt:
Miguel works with a program similar to Best Buddies at work and Michelle grew up volunteering with special needs children through a couple equestrian therapy programs. Both have worked in children’s ministries at church. Michelle felt the Lord calling them into orphan care and they started to pray about where the Lord would have them serve. A year later, they received confirmation to add to their family via adoption again and are overjoyed!
We feel able to care for children that have mild to moderate special needs between the ages of 0-6 years old. We are also willing to offer parents of special-needs children, support and/or counseling.
Our Faith in Christ:
Miguel has been saved in Christ and serving in the Kingdom since childhood. His parents are strong Christ-followers, his father being a pastor for a majority of his walk. Michelle found Christ in the midst of a traumatic event in her early 20’s after feeling hopeless and despondent. The Holy Spirit comforted her and carried her through. Both of us have a firm foundation in His Word and trust His will and calling for our lives. Miguel is currently a Sunday school teacher and Royal Ranger leader at church and Michelle serves with the kitchen staff.
Hello, We are Miguel and Michelle, but our family and friends call us Mike and Shelly. We are so excited to be adopting and bringing another child into our family! We thank you for taking the time to learn more about our family. Thank you for considering your choices. We cannot pretend to understand how hard this decision must be for you, but have each faced our own giants in our life and had to make the best, and sometimes hardest, decision. Regardless of what decision you make, you are brave. You are loved. And there is always hope. Please know that no matter what you choose, we are praying for you and your child.
