Dawn McDonald

Florida

My name is Dawn and I am a single, hopeful parent who desires to start my family through adoption, living in Central Florida. I have a pretty large family who are all supportive of my hopes and plans to adopt and who cant wait to welcome a new little bundle into our family, just as I hope to welcome you, if you would like.

I am 37 years old and I own my own single family home and I live with my dog. I am one of two children and my parents have been married for 41 years. My brother is active duty Air Force and stationed in the panhandle. I am lucky to have both sets of grandparents active in my life as well as a crazy amount of aunts, uncles, cousins, their spouses and their children. I grew up in Florida but was born in Kentucky and returned to Kentucky for my M.Ed. in Special Education for Learning and Behavior Disorders. I was a teacher for almost a decade and now I am able to be a stay at home parent. I look forward to sharing my love of education and learning with your child in addition to cooking, sewing, crocheting, watching movies and enjoying time at the beach. I hope that you can tell me some of your hobbies and interests so that I can teach the baby about those as well as he/she grows. My brother has three wonderful kids, 2 boys and one girl who range from 2 years old to thirteen and they are looking forward to being cousins.

My Desire to Adopt:

I have always wanted children but after suffering medical issues and an ectopic pregnancy, I am unable to have children biologically so adoption is my next step.

My Faith in Christ:

I believe in Christ and hope that I am living each day to the best of his vision of who he wants me to be. I am flawed and, at times, struggle but, I know that he has put obstacles in my path for me to learn and overcome.

Dear Mom/Parent:

Dear Momma,
I hope you are doing well and finding peace as you create your adoption plan. I cannot imagine what you must be feeling. I pray that you find strength and that you are able to be hopeful for your future and your baby’s future. I would love for you to meet me, talk to me and please, consider me to parent your child. I have not been in your shoes, no one but you has walked in your path, but I have had struggles of my own and know that I needed to find the calm in the storm in order to continue and find peace and happiness, I pray everyday for that for you. I’m sure that you are getting similar sentiments in other letters and to be honest although what I am writing is true I feel like writing this letter does not convey the correct depth of feeling and emotion I have for you or your baby. I don’t know what to tell you about myself but I am going to try…

I would hope to have an open or semi-open adoption so that as your baby grows they can see you and talk to you and know where they came from. I want for your child to know that they grew in your tummy and in my heart. I don’t know if that is what you want but I hope that we can work together to come up with a plan that works for both of us. If you want a closed adoption, I will, of course, support your decision.

I hope that you have been able to gather a “glimpse” of who I am and I hope that you are interested in considering me to parent your child. I am far from perfect, I will make mistakes but I do not give up and I will be the best parent I can be to and for your child. I hope that you are able to be a part of my journey and I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,
Dawn
